Kathleen King RN, NC-BC, BS, MS is a mom of four amazing grown children, plays tennis and has a deep and rich faith. She has over 18 years of RN experience spanning the entire continuum of acute care nursing – hospitals, rehab, home care and private care. She has an additional 10 years of experience designing and training staff on medical devices. Kath has a record of identifying issues and then jumping in to be part of the solution. She was recognized at Partner’s Healthcare for being part of a team that decreased patient falls in the hospital by over 40%.
When she was concerned about the quality of the science education at her children’s school she volunteered to teach and became the 3rd grade science teacher for 10 years. When a friend had a vision of starting an educational, outdoor farm that provides learning and play opportunities to children of all abilities regardless of social, emotional or behavioral challenges, Kath agreed to be a founding Board member.
Kath firmly believes that there are as many solutions to a problem as there are people on earth. One size does not fit all. Her blended education in both engineering and nursing is unique. It allows her to be open to truly hearing and understanding a concern, to take in large amounts of data to help clarify an issue and to use collaboration to create a solution that addresses the issue at hand.
In 2023, Kath completed a nurse coaching course and sat for her national board exam in Jan 2024. She is now a nationally, board certified nurse coach (NC-BC). Nurse coaches look at the whole person, and help individuals focus on and achieve personal health and wellness goals. Nurse coaching can be accomplished in 1:1 zoom or in-person meetings, small group or support group/workshop settings or even in seminar like settings. The important piece to nurse coaching is that the nurse coach is there to support, facilitate and hold you accountable to your own goals. Your path, your plan, your success!
