#sleep For those asking about long-term use of ingesting melatonin. The NIH says this “For melatonin supplements, particularly at doses higher than what the body normally produces, there’s not enough information yet about possible side effects to have a clear picture of overall safety. Short-term use of melatonin supplements appears to be safe for most people, but information on the long-term safety of supplementing with melatonin is lacking.” It’s why we do studies. However, during Covid, rather than embrace some very compelling data showing that melatonin supplementation could reduce symptoms and transmission of Covid, national news and the NIH squashed the studies. If you want the best care in this current climate, you need to be educated and know what sources are reliable and which are less scientific. Hard to do for sure.
