Home | NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness#stress Does the study below surprise you? Would you say it matches your general perception of how those around you are feeling? Is the current economy driving part of your stress? Please share some ideas to better budget without feeling like Scrooge? Do we set expectations too high? I’d love to hear how you and your family are planning to enjoy this month.
“64% of respondents to a NAMI survey said their mental health worsened around the holidays. Another survey found that stress levels are rising rapidly for many Americans. A staggering 87% of the survey respondents said the rising costs of day-to-day necessities (e.g., groceries, gas, electricity, etc.) are major stressors for them and 65% revealed they were stressed about money and the economy. As inflation worsens and costs continue to rise, gift giving, groceries for holiday events or travel expenses to see family around the holidays exacerbates stress.”
