#nutrition Well, so much for September and fall like weather. The Northeast of the US and lots of other areas are still pretty darn HOT! So, I figured it might be worth talking about what are the better food and drink choices when the heat and humidity are very high. The focus is on replacing electrolytes (sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and phosphate). Not really with energy drinks though. How about with foods? Yes, add a little salt on days you’re sweating, potassium can be from bananas but also oranges and grapefruit, spinach and zucchini. Spinach can also help with calcium (maybe a spinach salad with some lean fish or chicken and clementines? Hydration is also a huge component. Watery foods like watermelon, strawberries, and cucumbers are another great snack. As far as drinks – water, water and maybe some water with lemon or cucumber in it. Stay cool!
