Remember the “ME” in merry. For many of us, the holiday season is a focus on others. That’s a wonderful thing. But, you cannot be present to others if you don’t take care to check-in and find ways to nurture yourself. Schedule in time for activities that calm or excite you – prayer, art, a single show on TV that makes you laugh, any hobby you love. Set an alarm so you don’t allow your “ME” time to be overrun with tasks. Also, practice gratitude for the people and events in your life. It can be private like writing in a journal or on post it notes or more public by reaching out via text or the phone to let others know the gratitude you feel. Embrace the “ME” in merry – guilt free!
