#sleep “Sure I only get 6 hours of sleep, but that’s all I need” Is this you? It’s definitely been me. I do track my sleep with my FitBit but, if I get over six hours I’m usually happy with that. Apparently – I’m wrong. Only about 0.01% of individuals need 6 or less hours of sleep. About 20% of people believe they are one of the “rare few” who can go without more sleep. Here’s the thing, you become “conditioned” to having less sleep and then your “normal” functioning through the day seems fine. But, if you really got 7-8 hours of sleep you would most likely have an easier time remember things, have greater will power, more focus, less mood swings and even a better sex drive. If you are sleeping 6 hours or less, you are probably function below your potential every single day. Let’s do better. Sleep needs are individual and vary BUT, the science is pretty clear that 7 or more hours, for most adults, should be a goal to strive for.
