#nutrition It’s Cinco De Mayo! Happy 5th of May. It’s Friday night. For many adults it’s TGIF and time to kick back and enjoy some non-work time. We want to de stress and socialize. All that is great. So what are you reaching for and how many? The truth is many adults reach for high sugar drinks and then wonder why their triglycerides or A1C numbers are high. Much of our daily sugar intake comes from drinks – alcoholic or non-alcoholic. What’s your choice tonight? Is it one “good” drink and then seltzer or water? Is it high sugar and carbs or a whiskey neat? Notice it’s not the tequila that has the sugar and carbs but the non-alcoholic ingredients of a margarite. Not trying to kill your Friday night but, choices matter and do actually affect our overall health. Can you enjoy the social aspect without going overboard on sugar and carbs?
