“Light is one of the biggest reasons sleep changes between the seasons.” —Rebecca Robbins, PhD, sleep doctor
Do you feel more sleepy in the winter? Less in the summer? Before electric lights our sleep cycles matched the cycle of the sun and even the moon. For farmers and outside workers this can work. But, in 2022, it’s not always helpful for office workers. Plus, moms and dads don’t like being overly tired at 5:30pm. Luckily, we can use lights to help minimize feeling tired. One suggestion is to keep lights bright till about 2 hours before you want to go to sleep. Conversely, having lights on a timer might help with waking up in the morning. One added benefit of fall – studies say that 65 degrees is the “optimal” sleeping temperature. That is easily achieved with fall temperatures. https://ift.tt/9GJLZaI
