#activity Water & summer. Do you have these 5 skills? We love to be in and around water in warmer weather. In cities there are fountains and public pools, in more rural areas lakes and streams and of course there are ocean beaches and also beaches along larger lakes within the US. But, as we have seen in VT and other areas hit by flooding – water can be dangerous and deadly. So what do we need to teach our children and be able to do ourselves? According to the Red Cross we need these 5 skills:
Enter water that’s over your head, then return to the surface.
Float or tread water for at least 1 minute.
Turn over and turn around in the water.
Swim at least 25 yards.
Exit the water.
